This page contains details of all sporting and non-sporting competitions held under the Provincial Grand Lodge of Perthshire West. We will also published the results of the competitions on this page.

Provincial Angling Competition 2016

The result of the PGL Angling 2016 is as follows.

Lodge Tay & Lyon No 276 won the Lochan Breaclaich Cup with a combined weight for 10 fish of 21lbs 8 oz. RWM Bro. Mike Carry and Bro Ian MacGregor doing the business.

A close Second were St Michael No 38 with 21lbs 4oz for 10 fish. Bros Allan Brock and Don McPherson

The best bag outwith the winners was Don MacPherson.

Five teams competed and the day was enjoyed by all.

Provincial Angling Competition 2015

The Provincial Angling Competition was held on Sunday 10th May at the Breaclaich Dam by kind permission of Alex Baillie-Hamilton.

The Winner of the Breaclaich Trophy Lodge Breadalbane was St. Fillans No 815 with Bros Iain Downie and Johnny Chisholm.

Winner of the best Bag outwith the winning team Bro. Alex Stewart of the PGL

Winner of the best fish outwith the above categories was Bro. Andy Brown of Lodge St. Michael No. 38.









The Thomson golf competition

The Thomson golf competition was held on Sunday 7th June 2015 in glorious weather.

Six teams competed on the day and the winners of the Thomson Trophy were Lodge Ben Ledi 614.

Provincial Angling Competition

The Provincial Angling Competition will be held on Sunday 10th May at Lochan Breaclaich, Killin from 10am - 4.00pm, cost £15.00 per rod for teams of two or three.

This is a hill Loch near to Killin, and is owned by Cambusmore Estate who have granted us the use of the water for the day. Fishing is fly fishing only and is from the bank.



2015 Morris Curling Trophy

On Saturday 21st March 2015 a team consisting of Bro Charlie Roy PM, RWM Bro Peter McRitchie, Bro Willie Nicol PM and Bro. Colin Howat (who was a little Camera shy) from Lodge St Kessac No. 269 won the Morris curling trophy.







2014 PGL Angling Competition

On Saturday 31st May 2014 the PGL Angling Competition took place on Loch Frandy. Five Lodges were represented and under very challenging conditions varying from flat calm to a steady direction changing breeze, with blazing sunshine and slight cloud cover, all had an enjoyable day.

On the weigh-in the PGL team of PGL Secretary Martin Cockburn and IPDPGM Alex Stewart, swept home with a bag of five fish for 11lbs 10oz.

Runners up were the team from Lodge Breadalbane St. Fillans No 815, Johnny Chisholm and Dougal Ireland with four fish for 9lb 8oz.

The best individual bag outwith the winning pair was Johnny Chisholm and the best fish outwith the winning pair and best bag was Don McPherson from Lodge St Michael No. 38

Arthur Denholm DPGM presented the prizes and thanked Robbie McNeil of Lodge St James No 171 for organising the event and Lodge Breadalbane St. Fillans for assisting with the administration.
